READ2INNOVATE – A Powerful Step Towards Reading Culture and Innovation

The Central Library of Gujarat Technological University (GTU), in collaboration with The Book Talk Club, successfully organized “READ2INNOVATE – The Group Reading Initiative.” The primary objective of this unique initiative was to cultivate a reading habit among students, stimulate critical thinking, and create an academic environment that fosters innovation.

The program was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Jayendrasinh Jadeja, Registrar of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi. In his address, he emphasized that reading is not merely a means of acquiring knowledge but a powerful medium for personality development, value formation, and nation-building. He encouraged young minds to adopt a value-based direction in life through literature and thoughtful study.

The event was also honored by the special presence of Dr. K. N. Kher, Registrar of Gujarat Technological University. He highlighted that GTU is not limited to technical education alone but is committed to holistic development. He noted that activities like reading broaden students’ perspectives and inspire innovation, aligning with the university’s academic and social vision.

Harsh Barot, Founder of The Book Talk Club, expressed that “READ2INNOVATE” is the beginning of a thought revolution. He stated that reading inspires thinking, thinking generates innovation, and innovation brings transformation to society. Furthermore, he noted that group reading fosters unity, dialogue, and sensitivity among students.

Website Launch and Digital Engagement

A proud moment of the event was the official launch of The Book Talk Club’s website by the Chief Guest. The website provides a digital platform for students to engage with:

  • Book discussions and reviews
  • Literary activities and updates
  • A community for shared learning

This digital initiative bridges technology and literature, encouraging youth to integrate both into their learning journeys.

Vanche Gujarat Abhiyan 2.0 Highlights

As part of the “Vanche Gujarat Abhiyan 2.0” highlight, more than 70 students participated in a simultaneous group reading session. Students from diverse disciplines read literature, biographies, scientific writings, and motivational books, creating a positive atmosphere across the campus. This activity evolved into a meaningful platform for expression, embodying the motto: “Read to Think, Read to Grow, Read to Innovate.”

Central Library officials stated that a library is a center of intellectual energy rather than just a repository of books. The “READ2INNOVATE” program proved to be a significant milestone in promoting a vibrant reading culture that nurtures creativity, communication skills, and analytical thinking.

The initiative concluded with organizers expressing gratitude to all guests and participants. This joint effort by GTU and The Book Talk Club stands as a strong step toward fostering a knowledge-driven mindset and long-term personality development through the power of books.
